JOHN OF TSORTSOR: Commentary on the Gospel according to Matthew
JOHN OF TSORTSOR: Commentary on the Gospel according to Matthew

Commentaries on the New Testament Books, Vol. 4

Holy Etchmiadzin, 2009, 680 pp. (in Armenian)

The 4th volume of the "Commentaries on the New Testament Books" series is the critical edition of the Commentary on the Gospel according to Matthew by John of Tsortsor (Hovhannes Tsortsoretsi), written in 1316 in the Monastery of Tsortsor. This commentary is the continuation of the Commentary by St Nerses the Grace-filled who reached Mt 5:17, wrote its explanation and for unknown reasons stopped his work. That is why John of Tsortsor's Commentary begins with Mt 5:18. The critical text has been prepared on the basis of the edition published in Constantinople in 1825, and of a 15th century manuscript from the collection of the Mashtots Matenadaran.

Compilers: Gohar Ghazaryan, Seda Stamboltsyan and Gayane Nersisyan.
