    Gandzasar Theological Review, Volume 7
    Gandzasar Theological Review, Volume 7

    2002, 528 pp. (in Armenian)

Fr. Mesrop Aramian, "Confession of Faith". Gandzasar Theological Review, Volume 7, 2002

The 7th volume of the Gandzasar Theological Review comprises three main sections: Studies; Original texts and translations; and Lives of saints and martyrologies. The volume opens with a newly composed Confession of faith
(in Armenian, English and Russian) which presents the confession of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church, based on the words and expressions of the holy and authoritative Fathers of both the Universal and Armenian Churches. In the Studies section, articles by Fr. Mesrop Aramian, scholars Hrach Bartikyan, Paruyr Muradyan and Hakob Keoseyan are placed. Included in this section are also three translations: translation of two letters of Byzantine patriarchs to the Armenian Catholicoi from Ancient Greek by Hrach Bartikyan (the Greek texts are given along with the translations), and an essay by P. Minin from Russian by Hakob Keoseyan.

The second section includes modern Armenian translations of the “Teaching of the 12 apostles,” St Policarp's letter and martyrology, some treatises by Sts Athanasius of Alexandria, Basil of Caesarea, Ephrem the Syrian, John of Odzun, also by the 9-10th centuries' Armenian Father Anania of Narek. The translations from Ancient Greek are done by Simon Grkasharyan, those from Classical Armenian by Fr. Mesrop Aramian, Dns Ara Nalchajyan and Sahak Ghazaryan, Marta Arabyan. The original texts of the volume include the Classical Armenian texts of the authors Paul of Taron (Polos Tarawnac'i), John the Deacon (Yovhannes Sarkawag), Vardan Areveltsi and John of Erznka (Yovhannes Erznkac'i).

The third section presents lives of several saints, venerated in the Universal and/or Armenian Churches.

The volume is concluded by an Appendix which presents a brief essay about the Ethiopian Church, translated from French by Arkadi Sargsyan.
