At a concert held on January 23, 1924 in Venice, two men were clearly distinguishable among the Italian audience: the 43-year-old violinist playing on the stage and a 49-year-old, hook-nosed Armenian, Avetik Isahakyan – in the hall. It seemed as though the echo of Jan Kubelik’s Stradivarius violin reached Armenia in this way. From a child prodigy to an outstanding violin player: this was the way Jan Kubelik, the prominent son of the Czech people, passed. The show presents the light and shadow of the great violinist’s life. The listeners will have a chance to listen to archival recordings of Jan Kubelik’s performances. |
