Grigor Vantsyan's biography was noteworthy since his childhood − a bitter and hard, extreme poverty, as in case of many of his contemporaries, and also a tragic end. However, he received good education, though not perfect, and became involved in activities for the benefit of the Armenian nation. He has authored a number of philological studies, a monumental ethnographic treatise, and Armenian language and history textbooks.
