Spiritual Discussions

An investigation into central fundamental issues such as the meaning of life, our calling, the search for truth, the choice of the spiritual way. Additionally, we investigate other themes such as dogmatic purity and the recognition of one’s own tradition. All these and more are discussed by the participants of Spiritual Discussions.
What are the Church’s responses to these challenging questions? What is the relationship between the spiritual and material aspects of life? Is it possible to reach perfection in this life? How does one carry out the commandments of Christianity? What should be our attitude towards various sects? How should we protect our children and ourselves from “spiritual deformations”? Thorough responses and discussions to these questions and other important issues will be heard in Spiritual Discussions.

26 October Why Does God Give Importance to Faith?

What is faith according to the Bible? Why is faith in God emphasized constantly in both Old and New Testaments, and why does the Lord demand faith from people? Why doesn't the Lord reveal Himself openly; why does He do it through sacraments? How to obtain faith?

19 October Why and How to Read the Bible

What hinders amid today’s pluralism from including the words of the Book of Books in each mass media means, poster, showcase, school and university textbook for a wide propagation and promotion? Would it be an educational venture from theological, cultural, and spiritual-religious standpoints to include the Bible in all the levels of education? Why is the Bible excluded from education?

12 October Family Models in the 21st Century

What family models are there in the world nowadays, and what is the Christian assessment of each of them? Why does the Church recognize only that union as lawful which is between a man and a woman and established through the Church marriage at that? What does this radicalism of the Church secure in the mystery and purpose of marriage? Why can't a love union between a couple, if it is not formalized by documents, be pleasing to God? Don't two persons love each other? And God is love.

05 October What is the Goal of Church Marriage?

Often, the couple comes to church to marry without any idea about the Sacrament of Matrimony. Whose fault is this? In which cases can a priest reject or postpone the performance of this sacrament? What consequences can follow both hasty baptisms and hasty church marriages?

28 September The Christian Model of State Government

Christianity and the Christians have demonstrated their viability in all systems of state government. Should the issue on what the state should be have importance for Christians if the latter aspire to achieve heavenly citizenship? To what extent is the necessity of having and implementing a Christian model of state government substantiated?

21 September Go and Sin No More!
  • Fr. Sebeos Ghalachyan

After a doctor heals the body of a patient, he or she says at best: "Go and do not overindulge in such and such food or life style." While Jesus the Physician would say, "Your sins are forgiven, go and sin no more!" How to understand this if in both cases it is the body that is healed? Wasn't the healing of body in case of Jesus done for the healing of soul, and didn't Jesus solve the issue of soul by healing people's bodies?

07 September How to Start Everything Over Again

Many dream of starting their lives with a clean slate, but not everybody can find the necessary strength in themselves to do that. How should Christians who know the Lord's words: "Go and sin no more," restore and regain themselves after each fall and sinning? What could be the start on a new page for a Christian?

27 July What is the Battle of Christians and Who is Their Enemy?

If, according to the Lord, the prince of this world is Satan and the battle of Christians is not against flesh and blood, then what is the battle of Christians, against whom and for what is it? Should Christians exclusively fight a spiritual battle and should their struggle be against their own sins only? Does the spiritual war exclude war alternatives? Who is the inner enemy of Christians?

20 July Why Is God One and Religions Many?

The humans of the old world couldn’t live without religious beliefs. Moreover, their whole life was part of a religious rite. But those beliefs had different demonstrations in different peoples, creating the images of their own god or gods. At the same time, adherents of all religions share the opinion that God is one. Then what’s the reason of the plurality of religions?

13 July The Problem of Death

Why can't humans be reconciled with the death of their own or their loved ones? Doesn't it mean that death is a thing alien to humans and there is a natural irreconcilability between humans and death? And if death is alien, then doesn't it mean that it can be overcome? How to overcome the problem of death?
